When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:10-11
This passage and meditation is intended to offer us a strong, and perhaps sobering, challenge. Every Christian would acknowledge that Christmas is about celebrating the birth of the King of Kings. However, it is a sad fact that in many churches giving is down in the month of December. This says a lot about the conditions of many “Christian’s” hearts.
It seems December should be the biggest giving month in churches, because we should especially want to express our love and gratitude to our Savior. I hope that, at this Christmas season, you will choose to make a sacrificial gift of love and appreciation to your Lord and Savior.
