Devotion: Wednesday, June 27 – We Must Sow if We are to Reap – Part 2
But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6
Beverley explained to him in some detail the meaning of Isaiah 53:5&6 and the message that Christ died for him.
The man asked Beverley where LSM was and told her he was coming on Sunday. When Beverley inquired as to where he would be coming from, he told her Richmond. She explained how far it was from Richmond to Clifton Forge, but he said he would be there on Sunday.
A little before 10:00 am on Sunday morning, this gentleman and his girlfriend came walking into church. He knew nothing about the gospel, he didn’t own a Bible, and didn’t know the last time he had been in church.
This is an incredible story on many fronts: God took a bookmark that was made in Clifton Forge, Va., nine months ago, and caused it to come off the road and go through the window (we learned Sunday the window was only rolled down a very small amount) and land beside a lost gentleman in Richmond, Virginia.
God calls us to sow and leave the increase to Him. But for the increase to come, we must sow. I have given away tracts for the 39 years I’ve been saved, and I’ve never heard a story quite like this. But the point is, God wants to save people. He gave His Son for that purpose. I hope this story will be an encouragement to you to be faithful to continue to sow the grace of God in whatever means the Lord opens to you.
The Lord knows this man’s name. Will you pray for him and his girlfriend? I believe there is a call of God on his life.
